2010 Country Albums: Keith Urban, Tim McGrawNew Releases Include Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean and Eric Church
The biggest sellers in country music, including Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, and Dierks Bently, with 2009 albums and singles, including "Sweet Thing" and "Feel That Fire."
With 2008 releases by country giants Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and George Strait, other leading stars of the genre prepare 2009 country albums of their own. Fan anticipation arises as Keith Urban and Tim McGraw continue touring, and Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, and Eric Church prepare fans with quickly rising radio singles. Keith Urban’s “Sweet Thing”In the studio preparing his fifth album, Keith Urban released “Sweet Thing” to country radio in November 2008. The single is co-written with Monty Powell, co-writer of many previous Urban hits, and will be featured on Urban’s upcoming album. The album, rumored to be titled Born to Love, will be released in March 2009, on the heels of Urban’s number one Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy Thing. Since, Urban has also been featured on Brad Paisley’s single “Start a Band,” and has released a DVD compilation of his recent tour, Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy World Tour. Tim McGraw’s “Southern Voice”Throughout Tim McGraw’s summer 2008 United States tour, the singer and his band delighted fans with unknown songs and new singles. Among these songs, “Southern Voice” premiered as a fan favorite, and a tribute to a southern lifestyle, with mentions of Dale Earnhardt and his Number 3. “You Had to Be There” debuted as a nostalgic look at past times. Another track, “Still” was shown off to concert-goers as a vehicle for McGraw’s emotional vocal performance, in the same vein as “Sleep Tonight.” A new album is rumored for March 2009. Dierks Bentley’s “Feel That Fire”With a greatest hits under his belt, a summer 2008 tour, and a slew of number one singles, Dierks Bentley is riding higher than he ever has. His October 2008 single, “Feel That Fire,” premiered in typical Dierks’ Bentley fashion. It features strong guitar riffs and catchy hooks, as well as a hypnotic listing of his love’s desires. Among them are a passion to “Feel That Fire." The album is set for release on February 3, 2009. Jason Aldean’s “She’s Country”Jason Aldean, like Dierks Bentley, in 2008 moved from concert opener to headliner. With a handful of highly successful singles, including “Amarillo Sky” and “Laugh Until We Cried,” Aldean’s new album will be his first in the spotlight. His November 2008 single,“She’s Country,” might remind fans of past singles “Hicktown” or “Johnny Cash." It has a strong instrumental presence and a very country vocal. Aldean’s album releases in 2009. Eric Church’s “His Kind of Money”Eric Churhc’s March 24, 2009, release Carolina was preceded by two singles. “His Kind of Money (My Kind of Love)’ reached a spot on country billboard charts, while second single “Carolina” did not. Featuring the two different styles prevalent on the singer’s previous album Sinners Like Me, the two singles compliment the rocking country style of the singer with his softer acoustic side. Those country fans waiting for the return of Garth Brooks will have to settle for his slew of successors. Among them are these five who have filled the country charts collectively for the past three years. The beginning of 2009 should be no different with five new releases.
