ACM Awards Nominees Announced
George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, and Carrie Underwood Nominated
Country Music goes to Las Vegas on May 15th for the Academy of Country Music Awards, and the finalists have been set.
CBS anchor Hannah Storm spend the morning with Kenny Chesney and Sugarland, as the finalists for this year's ACM awards show was read off live on The Early Show.
It was back to the future as George Strait's name was read off 8 times as the Texas Cowboy leads all performers in nominations. Other favorites that also had a strong showing in the list include Brooks & Dunn, Rascall Flatts, and Carrie Underwood.
Strait has been a staple of country music since 1981 and Brooks & Dunn are approaching 20 years on station's playlists, and today showed off their staying power.
The complete tally of nominations went like this:
- George Strait - 8 nominations
- Brooks & Dunn - 7 nominations, with Ronnie Dunn receiving an additional one
- Rascal Flatts - 6 nominations
- Carrie Underwood - 5 nominations
- Big & Rich - 4 nominations, with John Rich receiving an additional one
- Vince Gill, Josh Turner and Gretchen Wilson - 3 nominations
