A look at the country artists vying for the coveted award of Female Vocalist of the Year at this year's CMAs in three weeks.
For a moment, lets discuss Sara Evans without mentioning the D words (divorce, dancing). She's one of the five nominees for Female Vocalist of the Year, and she's got a good shot. Here's an in depth look at the nominnes and the songs they have released to radio over the past CMA year.
"Real Fine Place To Start,"
"Tonight"
"Cheatin" (insert your own witty one-liner here)
"Real Fine Place" is as good of a song as radio received this past year, the follow up singles were disappointing - It should would be a feel good moment for Sara, but probably not this year.
"Mississippi Girl"
"Like We Never Loved At All"
"The Lucky One"
Overall a good year for the year 2000 winner of the award, but when you consider the heights she has been at in the past, it seems like a little less powerful year.
"Rose Garden"
"I Still Miss Someone"
Martina's "Timeless" CD got a lot of praise on Music Row, even if it didn't make any impact on radio station across the country. She's won this award in 1999, 2202,2003, and 2004 and should not be overlooked as a possible winner.
"Jesus Take the Wheel"
"Don't Forget to Remember Me"
Carrie is my pick for the award, which is going out on a limb because normally rookie artist do not get recognized that quickly, but how could you not be amazed by her year. The songs made instant radio impact, and her voice is extremely powerful. If she doesn't win it this year, she's definetly a favorite next year, but here's hoping next year comes early.
"I Don't Feel Like Loving You Today"
"Politically Uncorrect"
"California Girls"
Last year's champ is up against some tougher competition than she was a year ago, and her year hasn't been as successful - you do the math.
