It's been a wild week for the country group Lonestar. The group that was on the top of the country world in the 90's and early 2000's is experience the hard end of a life on Music Row.
The group lead vocalist Richie McDonald has announced that he will pursue a solo career. The band will stay togther and will find a new "leader of the pack."
Will Richie McDonald have success on his own? There's been a history of artist breaking away from bands in pursuit of their own solo career, and hasn't not been an easy road to travel down.
Restless Heart's lead singer, Larry Stewart tried life on his own, and only produce one Top 5 hit ("Alright Already").
Shenandoah's lead singer, Marty Raybon began his own career with little chart success. (You might remember "Cracker Jack Diamond" in 2000, if not, you're not the only one).
Highway 101 was very popular in the 1980's before it's most recognizable voice, Paulette Carlson left for a solo career. Her debut song "I'll Start With You" hit the Top 20 in 1992 and was as high as she would get on the charts by herself.
Brady Seals left Little Texas in 1996 and could only manage one Top 40 hit, "Another You, Another Me."
It's a lot easier finding these examples then the success stories, for Richie McDonald's sake, hopefully he can buck the trend.
