Strait to the Hall of Fame

CMA allows a legend into the hall at the right time.

Aug 31, 2006 Chris Sanders

Country music legend and current hit-maker George Strait will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this November.

What else could he do?

With 52 #1 songs in the last 24 years, country music legend George Strait will get enshrined into the Country Music Hall of Fame this November.

The introduction will be formally made during this year's CMA Awards in November.

According to this writer, this is a case of the CMA getting it right. Too many times I've watched a Hall of Fame induction ceremony that had to be accepted by a relative of the recipient...either because the inductee had passed or was too sick to make a public appearance.

George Strait only turned 54 years old this past May, and is still recording hit after hit. It's obvious his career story has yet to be finished. I'm sure the CMA will find a way to add on any upcoming accomplishments to his display in the Nashville museum.

Let all hall of fame committees take a clue from the CMA. The lesson is simple - honor the legends of the genre while they are still young enough to enjoy it and share it with their families.

Next year, let's get Reba in there.
