Anyone else getting discouraged by the way the Hall of Fame inductees are being treated on the awards show?
First, Alabama is cut off during their acceptance speech and now this year's George Strait induction was laughable.
Amongst many other things, George Strait has more #1 songs than anyone else in history. So the academy is inducting the best of the best, and what do they do - basically nothing.
First Kris Kristofferson fumbles his way through a short introduction, then George Strait sings "Give It Away", :40 seconds given for the acceptance speech, and then it's to commercial. That's the best they could come up with?
The biggest oppurtunity missed was to have someone who meant something to George present the award. They could have used Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Ray Benson, Kenny Chesney, Lee Ann Womack, or if it had to be a Hall of Fame member Willie Nelson or Merle Haggard. I think America would have rather seen any of these instead of Kris.
Second, how about a glimpse at his career, some kind of video montage seemed called for. However, we got nothing. George performed and it was nice, but shouldn't a Hall of fame induction be a moment that the artist can sit back and soak into memory? Thanks to the academt, the only high points of the moment, George created himself.
