USA Network is about to launch season 5 of the Nashville version of American idol.
On Thursday January 11th, seaosn 5 kicks off for Nashville Star on the USA Network. The country answer to American idol has not been as successful in producing stars, but has been fun to watch non-the-less.
This year, there's a new host , as Jewel takes center stage. She's the 4th host in the 5 year run of the show. Nancy O'Dell, LeeAnn Rhimes, and Wynonna have all had that role in the past.
The judges are mostly new as well. Gone are Phil Vassar and Brett Michaels, and in are Randy Owens (from the group Alabama), and Blake Shelton.
Cowboy Troy and Anastasia Brown are the only 2 holdovers from last year, as Cowboy Troy will again be backstage with the contestants, and Anastasia Brown will again be a judge.
